This is a small refillable vape made by Aspire. You fill it with your own e-liquid, you charge it with a USB-C lead, and when the pod wears out you put a new one in. Nothing about it gets thrown away after a few days.

2ml, Not 4.5ml

You may see this vape listed with a 4.5ml pod. That is not the one sold in the UK.

Aspire make two versions of the Gotek S. The standard one has a 4.5ml pod. The UK one has a 2ml pod, because UK law does not let a refillable pod hold more than 2ml. So if a customer has read "4.5ml" somewhere, they have read about a version that cannot be sold here. It is the same vape with a smaller pod. The only real difference is that you fill it up a little more often.

The Gotek S Box Contents

The box is simple. Aspire and UK sellers list the same four things: the vape, one refillable 2ml pod with the coil already inside it, a USB-C cable and a small user guide. So a customer can charge it on day one without hunting for a lead.

There is no e-liquid in the box. You buy that on its own.

The coil is part of the pod, so a Gotek S Refill Pod Kit never needs a coil bought on its own. When the taste starts to fade, or it tastes burnt, you swap the whole pod for a new one.

Same Pod As The Gotek X

Aspire build both vapes around the same pod, called the Gotek pod. So one packet of Aspire Gotek replacement pods fits either one. Nobody has to work out which pod goes with which vape.

Aspire also make prefilled Gotek pods. These come with the liquid already inside, and this vape takes those as well. The pods we sell are the refillable kind, which you fill yourself.

So a customer with either vape can use the same pod. If somebody owns a Gotek X and wants a second vape, the Gotek S uses everything they already have.

Tight Draw Or Loose Draw

There is a small airflow slider on this vape. It changes how much air comes in when you breathe in, and that changes how the vape feels.

With the slider closed, the pull is tight. You draw the vapour into your mouth first, then breathe it in, the same way you would smoke. This is called mouth to lung. Most people who have just stopped smoking like it this way.

With the slider open, the pull is looser and you get more vapour. This is called restricted direct to lung. It is still a small vape, though. It is not built for big clouds and it is not meant to be.

To use it, you just breathe in. The vape switches itself on as you draw and off when you stop.

Here is what the less obvious ones mean.

The battery. 650mAh is the size of the battery. UK sellers say it lasts around two days of normal use on one charge. If somebody vapes a lot, it will not last that long.

The power. Aspire rate the coil at 13 to 16 watts. Some UK sellers list the vape at 10 to 13 watts instead. Either way it is low power, which is what a tight, cigarette-style pull needs.

Steady power. The 3.7V means the vape does not get weaker as the battery runs down. The last puff before it needs charging should taste like the first one.

The pod. It clicks into place with a magnet, so there is nothing to screw on. You fill it through a small rubber plug on the side, so you do not have to take anything apart. Safety. UK sellers list Aspire's ASP chip inside, which cuts the power if the battery is overcharged or there is a short circuit.

The size. At about 7.5cm tall and 4cm wide, it is small enough to close your hand around and light enough to forget it is in your pocket.

This is where the Gotek S is different from the Gotek X. Inside, the two are very close. They take the same pod and they have the same size of battery. People pick the Gotek S for the way it looks and the way it sits in the hand.

The colour only changes the outside. Every Aspire Gotek S Pod System Kit takes the same 0.8Ω pod, so the vape works the same whichever one you choose. If a customer wants more choice than five colours, the Vaporesso Xros Mini kit is another refillable kit and comes in ten.

Best Liquid For The Gotek S Pod System

Aspire say it works with both nic salts and ordinary freebase liquid. The small coil does best with thinner liquid.

The first fill needs a little patience. Inside a new pod, the cotton round the coil starts out dry. Give the liquid about five minutes to soak in before the first puff. Puff too early and the dry cotton scorches, and that burnt taste stays until the pod is replaced.

Gotek S Pod System Problems

I read it holds 4.5ml, but mine holds 2ml.

That is correct for the UK. The 4.5ml pod belongs to the version sold abroad. Here, a refillable pod can hold 2ml at most.

My new pod tastes burnt.

It was most likely vaped before the cotton had soaked. That taste will not go, so swap in a new pod. With the next one, give the liquid about five minutes before the first puff.

Will my Gotek X pods fit this?

Yes. The Aspire Gotek S Pod Kit and the Gotek X take the same Gotek pods.

The taste has gone weak.

The coil inside the pod is wearing out. Put in a new pod and your Gotek S Refill Pod Kit will taste like new again.

The draw feels too tight.

Move the airflow slider open a little. Closed gives the tightest pull, open gives the loosest.

Nothing happens when I breathe in.

Check the pod has clicked in properly and the battery has some charge. The Gotek S Pod System only fires when the pod is seated and you draw on it.

Can I put shortfill in it?

A 50/50 liquid is fine. A thick 70/30 shortfill is made for bigger vapes and does not suit a small 0.8Ω pod.
