SMOK RPM 40 Pod Kit: First-Generation Overview
The SMOK RPM 40 Pod Kit is an original refillable RPM40 device with adjustable power and two cartridge options. The later RPM 2, RPM 3 and RPM 5 names do not mean their pods fit this device.
Two Locks with Different Jobs
The original RPM40 has two separate locks. Three quick presses of the fire button lock or unlock firing. Pressing the UP and DOWN buttons together locks or unlocks wattage adjustment instead. The difference matters when firing or wattage changes stop working.
Five quick fire-button presses turn the device on or off. Hold the button to fire; the device does not activate on inhaling.
What the Colour Screen Shows
The 0.96-inch TFT gives a numerical wattage setting and shows battery level, puff information, voltage and the resistance of the fitted coil. Power can be adjusted from 1W to 40W using the buttons below the display. A 40W device limit is not a suitable setting for every fitted coil.
Fire plus UP changes the screen theme, not the device's physical colour.
Reading the RPM40 Pod Label
The two cartridges take different coils. Identify the stopper first:

RPM pod: red stopper marked RPM; original 0.4Ω RPM mesh coil.

RPM Nord pod: black stopper marked NORD; original 0.6Ω Nord DC coil.
Both cartridge bodies fit the RPM40, but an RPM coil does not fit the Nord-labelled cartridge. No1's original RPM coils listing is relevant to the RPM-labelled side. RPM 2 and RPM 3 coils do not fit.
SMOK RPM40 Specifications
Power: built-in 1500mAh rechargeable battery; adjustable 1–40W output; button activation and IQ-R chipset. It cannot take a removable 18650 cell.
Body: about 99 × 25 × 25mm and approximately 99g, with a colour TFT, adjustment buttons and fixed pod mouthpiece. The original unit charges by Micro-USB, not USB-C. The supported coil resistance range is 0.2–2.5Ω, subject to each specific coil rating.
Cartridges: two refillable, push-fit-coil pod formats with side silicone filling seals. The appropriate UK edition contains 2ml RPM and 2ml Nord cartridges. Exact No1 kit contents require a batch check.
Original Colour Finishes
Eight documented early finishes are Bright Black, Prism Chrome, Purple Red, Prism Gold, Prism Rainbow, White, Orange and Green. SMOK later listed 17 editions, including camouflage finishes.
No1's currently selectable finishes remain unverified.
Refilling and Liquid Selection
Take out the cartridge, open its side silicone seal and fill away from the centre airway. Reseal the stopper. Fit a coil in its matching pod and let new cotton soak before firing. Replace burnt-tasting coils.
The Nord DC configuration has a more restricted draw than the supplied RPM mesh. A 50VG/50PG liquid is a possible match for that setup. No1's IVG 6000 nic salts provide a listed 50/50 example, not a blanket nicotine-strength recommendation. Check coil and liquid suitability.
UK Cartridges Are Not the Large Edition
International pods also came in 4.3ml RPM and 4.5ml Nord sizes. Its documented EU 2ml edition instead includes both original cartridge types at 2ml. No1's 4.5ml spare-pod listing is not a verified UK nicotine-vape replacement.
SMOK's GB notification records and its international product descriptions also use different labels for one 0.6Ω configuration. Check the printed cartridge and coil labels.
Check the Exact RPM40 Trade Carton
For SMOK RPM 40 wholesale supply, match the original device, both 2ml cartridge types, chosen finish and replacement-coil markings to the physical box and GB notification. Do not assume a sealed case quantity. Other models in the SMOK pod-kit collection need different part numbers. UK age-of-sale restrictions apply.
RPM40 Questions
Can the original Nord device's plastic pod fit the RPM40?
No. The RPM40 Nord cartridge accepts original Nord coil heads, but the original Nord device's pod body is a different shape.
Is an RPM RBA included with the standard kit?
No. The RPM rebuildable head is an optional accessory, not part of the standard two-coil kit.
What does a “TIME OVER” message mean?
The device has stopped an extended firing press at its eight-second limit. Release the fire button before using it again.
How can I clear the displayed puff count?
With the screen unlocked, press fire and DOWN together. The fitted coil is unaffected.
Will a standard 510 tank screw onto the RPM40?
No. It accepts proprietary pods, not screw-on 510 tanks.
